Impressions

This exhibition presents a series of new works from the collection ‘Impressions’, a research on the gesture in painting and the exploration of the paint medium.

During the last three years, at the Artist Ateliers of Plessix-Balisson, my painting technique has evolved from a representative approach to a more gestural expression, exploring the currents of emotions.

The trace left by the sea in the sand, the imprint of a hand on a rocky surface, the sculpture of the wind on the wing of a bird, so many clues, impressions of the living.

In the same way, painting marks the surface of the canvas, the play of the brush exploring the painting medium’s depth, and revealing by it’s magic, universal truths. In the successive layers of pigments and oil, dreamed and imaginary landscapes come to life.

The impression of oneself, the imprint of time, our living presence on this earth, guiding us closer to this universal and intimate composition, that the medium of paint brings into light. And in it’s heart, the expression of it’s magic and of our humanity.

The act of painting sculpts the contours of the interior landscapes, repetition of the gesture, poetry, rhythm, colors, so many impressions.. notes of the fleeting moment in which we exist.
