Olivia Barratier is a French painter based in Brittany. Her work explores the connections between nature, memory, landscape, and cosmic energy through painting that is vibrant, intuitive, and deeply contemplative.

After leaving France several decades ago, Olivia Barratier lived and worked in Ireland, Canada, and the United States—specifically New York, Montreal, and Los Angeles—where she collaborated on numerous film and visual design productions. This international journey now informs an artistic practice attuned to the concepts of light, space, and movement.

Influenced as much by Californian landscapes as by the coast of Brittany, she creates work in which natural elements become realms for inner exploration. Rocks, seascapes, atmospheric phenomena, and organic forms run through her series like living presences. Her painting seeks not so much to depict the landscape as to capture its energy, rhythms, and transformations.

Created primarily in oil—and sometimes enhanced with oil pastels—her work is built up through layers, gestures, and vibrant color. Hovering between abstraction and evocative figuration, her pieces invite a contemplative experience where matter, light, and silence converse.

Since returning to France, Olivia Barratier has exhibited regularly in Brittany and Paris. Her work has notably been featured at the Salon d’Automne in Paris and the Salon d’Hiver des Cordeliers. Alongside her personal practice, she conducts workshops and sharing sessions focused on contemporary painting and the landscape.
